Electric Actuator Solutions for Hospital Beds

The shortage of healthcare workers and the increasing demand for patient self-care are driving the need for adjustable healthcare equipment. Adjustable hospital beds are one of the essential pieces of equipment in the medical field. Equipped with an electric actuation system, the adjustable hospital bed allows patients to adjust the hospital bed with an easy push of a button, which helps them relax and get comfortable based on their medical condition and improves the efficiency and accessibility for staff and caregivers.

There are three recognizable benefits of adjustable hospital beds for patients:

  • Improved circulation and reduced swelling

  • Give patients more independence and control

  • Bring mobility and more comfort to patients

TiMOTION designed total solutions of electric linear actuator systems for different types of hospital beds: Acute Care Beds, Bariatric Beds, and Long-term Care Beds - to give patients more options for comfort. These options include reclining head and feet adjustments, improved movement abilities (such as Trendelenburg), or lowering a bed for optimal transitioning from a seated to a standing position. Likewise, healthcare staff can treat patients more efficiently with easier bed and patient access.

Intelligent and Reliable Movement

TiMOTION offers a series of lifting columns that can adjust the height of hospital beds via synchronous movement and complete selections of low-noise, stable, waterproof, and medically certified electric linear actuators with a wide range of force, speed, and output signal options, including quick release options for the emergency:

  • Mechanical Quick Release

The spindle set Hall sensor or POT (potentiometer) will continue to send position feedback after the quick release action is performed, allowing the user to maintain an accurate position within the control system. Also, the slow-descent design can protect the patient during the quick-release process and increase safety in an emergency.

  • Electrical Quick Release

The 3-brush motor increases the quick release speed by 1.5 times the normal retracting rate, providing a simple and convenient option for hospital beds. It can support direct-cut actuation systems with TiMOTION's hand control.

High Safety Standard

Quality and safety are inseparable prerogatives of our activity that we wish to guarantee to our customers. Our Care Motion Line actuators are rigorously tested (EMC) and comply with the medical standards: IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-1-52, and IEC 62304, which define the safety and essential performance requirements applicable to electro-medical devices.

The safety factor is also an essential measure of protection against unanticipated loads or operating conditions. It ensures that the electric linear actuator will still operate as required, even if the operating conditions change and are outside the parameters initially designed for the electric linear actuator.

TiMOTION’s mission is to provide safe and reliable solutions that can be easily integrated into all healthcare applications. Our medical actuator series is designed and developed for the safety factor of 2 to ensure our medical actuators still move stability under unanticipated loads or operating conditions.
